The Saint Mark Christian Education team strove to introduce the Safe Sanctuary Policy adopted by our church. We are blessed with many wonderful children and young adults in our family and the policy is for their protection. Originally drafted in 2003, it was revised in 2008 and many safety tools have been implemented. One aspect of the policy that we must work on, however, is the two adult rule. Two adults are required to be in attendance during all activities offered at Saint Mark. This means two adults for every Sunday school class. It also means that children should not be left alone in rooms without adult supervision. Therefore, we are in need of adults to volunteer to be on standby on a designated Sunday in case there is a need. This adult will be in the classroom as a helper, not as a teacher. We have many very capable teenagers who like to help when called upon, but Safe Sanctuary dictates two adults. Safe sanctuary policies are available in the narthex for anyone who would like to read it in its entirety. Please contact either Pastor Marks, Pastor Ross or any member of the Christian Education team if you have any questions or concerns.
