Saint Mark Cooperative Nursery School celebrated 50 years of nursery school experience in 2006. The school is a non profit, non sectarian organization managed by a Board of Directors consisting of parents, members of Saint Mark Church and the school staff. It is supported entirely by tuitions and is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Human Services.
Our director, three year old program director and teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education and are qualified by their personal philosophy, aptitude, and experience to teach young children.
As a cooperative school, parents play an important part in the school's operation by assisting the classroom teacher as "helping parent" which provides the opportunity for parents to gain insight into their child's pre-school experience. We maintain an open door policy and welcome visits from interested individuals, as well as parents. An appointment is never necessary. Children may enroll on a limited or non co-op basis.
Saint Mark Cooperative Nursery School provides an atmosphere in which children develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally in a relaxed, yet controlled program. Our primary goal is to develop self esteem and confidence in each child. We encourage the development of cognitive skills, listening, retaining, and recalling information and following directions. We provide an opportunity for the growth of fine and gross motor skills. These learning experiences will stay with the child preparing him/her for future educational experiences and influencing the way he/she feels about himself and others.
