Shaping Our Future Together!
Our Vision
Genesis 26:22B: ‘He named it Rehoboth saying,
“Now the Lord has given us room and
we will flourish in the land.”’
In 1974, two congregations combined to build this fine church. We have all benefited from their hard work, sacrifice and generosity and the church has flourished. During this time the community has also flourished and grown. If we wish to continue to provide a solid base of worship, education and outreach/service and be a beacon in the community and extend an open invitation for all to grow in the light of God’s love, then the torch must be passed on to a new generation. We have made good use of our great building and the Building Committee has shown us the path to our future. With God’s help all things are possible. Isaac had his Rehoboth, we can have ours.
Our Goals (Video of The Rehoboth Building Project)
As we look to the coming decade, and further, our church will reach a point of incapacity in its ability to continue to reach out to serve the needs of not only the present congregation, but also, of those who will come to our doors in the near future. We need to provide a common project to unite parishioners who attend four different worship services, and provide space and opportunities to reach new people in the surrounding communities.
• Parking
We will add 83 parking spaces utilizing both the north and south sides of the building. We are currently 30+spaces short of township requirements. We sometimes have vehicles parked on the grass and in the street, especially when early arrivals for a service are here prior to the present service leaving. We will have more space available closer to the building to accommodate persons with special needs. Spreading parking around the church will alleviate parking problems by allowing persons using the Education wing or Chapel to park near that portion of the building allowing more space for people using the Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall.
• Education/Meeting room wing
As the people of our church continue to meet together for activities, spiritual development and discipleship, we are in need of more and better space. Sunday School rooms are crowded and are limiting growth. We presently have two classes with over 20 students we would prefer to split but there is no room for them. New families of preschoolers have enrolled. We will construct a 19,000 square foot two story education/meeting room addition to meet our needs. The education ministry will experience new life with four to five new classrooms and meeting space. Presently, on many nights, church meetings are held in offices for lack of meeting rooms. There is no space to accommodate community ministries. There is no acceptable space for our youth to meet. The lower level will provide a large room dedicated to youth activities.
• Fellowship hall/Gymnasium
We need a place for fellowship. We currently have no place a significant portion of the congregation can gather besides the Sanctuary. Our growing youth ministries need to be supported with adequate space designed for that purpose. The low ceiling in the present Fellowship Hall prohibits many recreational activities. The coffee hour activity causes space concerns with other activities using the same space at the same time, for instance, the blood bank, some Sunday School activities, etc. A 10,500 square foot fellowship hall/gymnasium would be constructed to double the size of our present hall. The new space would allow us to serve 150-200 people at tables for fellowship, meals, receptions, etc. The gym will offer a wide range of recreational activities within our church and the community. All of our additions are multi purpose space. Storage has been a big problem for a long time. The lower level of this addition would be dedicated to storage.
• Chapel and Music Space
A chapel/music space building will be constructed on the north side of our facility. This will involve renovating the north side entrance and converting the current youth room to music space. The present choir room is insufficient for our many music activities to rehearse and/or store robes and music. There is no space for bell tables or our dance ministry. A Chapel allows a space for smaller services like Saturday night and 8:00am Sunday, weddings, funerals, music rehearsals and music storage and eliminates the heating/cooling of the 400 person Sanctuary to accommodate a small group. It will be a quiet place for meditation and accommodate growth of additional music ministry.
