William D. Wieszczek

Bill Wieszczek was hired as Music Director at Saint Mark in July of 1994.  When he first arrived, Bill was doing his post-masters work at Temple University with an emphasis in composition, where he earned his Master of Music in 1989.  Bill was born and raised in the Trenton/Hamilton area, baptized at First Methodist in Trenton and was among the first group of youth to be confirmed at Saint Mark in 1977 when the church was first established.  After graduating from Steinert High School in 1983, he studied music at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  There he studied choral conducting with Dr. Raphael Bundage, a student of Robert Shaw and Donald Nuen, eventually becoming assistant conductor of the Middle Tennessee Choral Society.

After completing his Bachelor of Music degree, Bill returned to New Jersey and served as Music Director at Titusville Presbyterian Church from 1987 until 1994.  He also taught general and choral music at several private Catholic elementary schools, including Saint Augustine in Franklin Park and Saint Rose of Lima in Howell.

Bill became Saint Mark's full-time Director of Music in June, 2000 and since then has grown his ministry to include conducting two adult choirs, designing and implementing a choir/worship skills program for kids in grades 1-8 called Tunesday, leading the Fretted String Ensemble and Saint Mark Winds as well as emceeing a monthly Open Mic program on the first Friday of each month from September through June.  His bell/guitar arrangements have been published by Shawnee Press.  In addition to music, Bill also serves on the Children's Christian Education Team, helping to oversee and implement a successful Vacation Bible School Program, yearly Children's Retreat and summer Choir Camp.  He also helps to coordinate a team that serves lunch at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen once a month and is on the planning board of the Christian Education Associates, a group that sponsors the Hightstown Event, an annual Christian Education training workshop and an adult retreat.

One of Bill greatest joys is to be able to give back to the Saint Mark community what they have given him as he grew up in the church - to be able to nurture God's given abilities in God's people and to allow others to offer their gifts for the edification of the church and for His glory.
